Baking Soda Bonus
Dish Daze
• Make your crystal sparkle with a quick soak in baking soda and warm water. Rinse and dry.
• For fresher non-soapy baby bottles: soak overnight in hot water and ½ box of baking soda.
• Sprinkle a handful of baking soda over dirty dishes in dishwasher. It will boost your detergent’s cleaning power.
• Clean coffeemaker with 1 quart warm water and ¼ cup baking soda (mix well). Run through once, and then run plain water through to ensure no soda remains.
• Sprinkle baking soda on half a lemon to revive your copper pots; just scrub and rinse.
Bathroom Bliss
• Remove mold, mildew and rust spots from fiberglass shower stalls by using a damp sponge sprinkled with baking soda. Rinse and wipe dry.
• Clean a tiled shower by sprinkling baking soda on the surface and scrub with a nylon netting sponge and some dish detergent.
• Pour ½ box of baking soda into the toilet tank once a month and let stand overnight before flushing. Bonus…tank and bowl will both be clean.
• Place a box of baking soda on the floor behind the toilet to act as an air freshener. Add some perfumed bath salts for extra freshening.
Carpet Capers
• Remove fresh grease or wine stains from carpet with a light sprinkling of baking soda. Dab it up, apply more soda, if needed. When the wine/grease is absorbed into the soda vacuum up any residue left.
• Christmas tree sap will loosen with a paste of baking soda and water. Dab, let sit, vacuum up residue.
• Remove stale smells from your carpet by sprinkling baking soda lightly and let sit overnight. Vacuum the next day.
“WOWs”!!!
• Forget expensive ice melts - use baking soda: it adds traction, melts the ice and won’t damage concrete, shoes or floors.
• Flush a cup of baking soda down the toilet once a week to keep your septic tank ph level equalized.
• Put a little baking soda in your ashtray to help reduce stale cigarette odors, plus the soda will help extinguish your “butt.”
• Sprinkle baking soda in your shoes for sweet feet. It helps control odor and wetness.
• Boost your bleach’s power. Use ½ cup each of bleach and baking soda. You will get less bleach odor and whiter whites.
• Add ½ box of baking soda to your liquid laundry detergent to boost its cleaning power. Results will be fresher, whiter whites and brighter colors.
• Sprinkle baking soda lightly in a cast to eliminate odor. Blow it in using a hair dryer.
• Blitz zits with a paste of baking soda and peroxide applied before bedtime.
